Boots might be the ultimate grown-up accessory. Like yeah you have dorky child boots when you're a child and Uggs when you're a preteen. (I do not believe Uggs are boots. I am not against them, neither am I for them. In their own category, which is composed only of themselves, I think they are neither superior nor inferior to anything else in the category. And of course you can't just compare across categories all willy nilly like.) But that first boot purchase, you really do that on your own. Mine were tall, faux black leather, round toe, platform heel, ridiculous monstrosities. No one ever said becoming a grown-up was easy.
