GIVEAWAY: woven bracelet of your choice!

This Giveaway Has Ended. Please check our front page for current giveaways!

Custom-made jewelry is one of those little luxuries that makes your day a little brighter, isn't it? Brooklyn Thread is an etsy shop specializing in handmade woven and knotted jewelry as well as metal, stone, and glass work. The shop 's niche is bracelets, affordably priced and custom-made to your specification in color, length, and type! Last year's bracelet piling trend is sticking around for this fall, so make sure you get yourself a bunch to mix and match! This week's giveaway winner will receive a woven bracelet of their choice, like the gorgeous silver bubble bracelet above. I love the idea of a bunch of these bracelets of different colors and widths to pair with a neutral outfit.

This wood and leather celtic knot bracelet is made of gorgeous deep brown beads and a great little charm. One of those accessories that you'll end up wearing much more than you think you will! It's also available in silver, for those of you who go in for silver as their neutral. I love the way the leather thread hugs the beads on this!

This is actually a group of six bracelets piled together - makes you want to run out and buy a bunch of matching bracelets, doesn't it? Great lavendar color and a visually arresting gold in intervals. Best of all, made of elastic cord so that you can play with it when bored in meetings. Just me? Ok. You're missing out though!

And of the woven bracelets, this one is probably my absolute favorite! Great modern cubes interplay with the hippie style thread. The choice of colors includes all the colors of the rainbow, gray, black, mauve, a bunch of pinks, baby blue, and teal.

The giveaway runs from 12:00 AM PST today (Monday) until 6:00 PM PST, September 6th (Sunday). The winner will be chosen by random.org and emailed on Friday. If the winner does not respond within 24 hours, a second winner will be chosen. Stuff Under Twenty is not responsible for the giveaway after the winner and the storeowner have been put in contact with each other. Sorry, we only accept U.S. mailing addresses at this time.

weekend words

Hi Readers,

I got a call mid-week from S telling me she's making an impromptu trip to my neck of the woods with a friend. Very exciting! I finished up a crazy week of work so I'm looking forward to a schedule consisting of bar hopping with S and then running around town with the guy.

I'm allowing this ww to be short because, there isn't much to say. It's very very hot and it makes doing everything a little bit exhausting.

Interested in guest blogging? We're still have a few spots available for people to contribute in September. Email us: thesignificantothers (at) gmail (dot) com

taiwan fundraiser tee

We like to think of ourselves as relatively well-informed (depending on how busy we are that week, right?), but it's scary what all can be going on outside our little corner of the world that we miss. On August 8th, Typhoon Morakot blew through some of the most poverty stricken parts of Southern and Central Taiwan and destroyed houses, buildings, roads, businesses, as well as families and lives with over 10 ft of rain which led to flooding and mudslides that has killed hundreds and leaving thousands homeless. A friend of ours is donating the proceeds from the sale of her Taiwan Tee to the Tzuchi Foundation to help the victims of the typhoon. You know we don't usually do this, but it's a great tee, a good cause, and a fabulous price. Hope some of you are sporting this look soon. Please spread the word! Chunkytees.com has some videos and info about the typhoon and aftermath.

rolled-trim scoopneck

I have a closet full of the neutral-est neutrals there are. Black, brown, gray, white, a bunch of dark purple tossed in, usually paired with some kind of denim. (No problem with colorful shoes, although to be fair the only color I've diversified to is red, and I think I officially have too many pairs of red shoes [cowboy boots, wedges, rain boots, everything else is black or brown, I know, I know]). I've been trying really hard to reach over to the reds and yellows and pinks and greens when I see a piece I like. You think this is non-neutral enough to qualify?

GIVEAWAY:colorful, peaceful print from khiti!

This giveaway has ended. Visit our home page for current giveaways.

What have your summer weekends been like? Mine have been a whirlwind of friends and family with long pauses in my chair in my living room, learning to read for fun again, watching action flicks from the 90s (Face/Off anyone?), and licking fingers sticky from summer fruit. I think it's fair to say that if I had to define my happy place, and I wasn't allowed to cheat with one of those "anywhere I'm with people I love" answers, it would be this chair (thanks Ikea!). My chair is black and white and right behind it are curtains in this gorgeous Granny Smith color, so you know why I'm so incredibly pleased and preemptively jealous of this week's giveaway winner, who gets to take home a "find a happy place" print from Khiti's etsy shop! It comes in a cherry and ochre color for those of you whose happy places are bolder and calmer than mine, respectively. It's that perfect companion for these fleeting weekends and it will be the perfect reminder when busier times come along soon.

I absolutely love this print by Khiti as well. This is where I live (I know, you're all wondering why exactly I'm ever in my chair inside, huh?) and it makes me smile so wide to see it in these vibrant colors and textures. I know I'm not going to live here that much longer, and a print like this is going to come along with me when I leave to remind myself that I didn't appreciate what I had when I had it.

And when I move, it's going to be to a big city on the other coast with a park like this in it. This print just captures me. The cotton-candy tufts on the tree, and the little scribbles of birds in the air, and the careful shades of gray in that path leading to the future. Sigh. Isn't it amazing how the colors are all some kind of neutral but the effect is so bright?

And just in case you folks aren't taken in with Khiti's talent with landscapes, here's an adorable print for a nursery or powder room, or heck, anywhere. Again, so simple but so detailed, this will pop in any room without overwhelming.

The giveaway runs from 12:00 AM PST today (Monday) until 6:00 PM PST, August 30th (Sunday). The winner will be chosen by random.org and emailed on Friday. If the winner does not respond within 24 hours, a second winner will be chosen. weekend words

Hi Readers,

Oh, weekend words, how quickly you come, I don't even think about you until I remember that it's Friday.

S and I had a spectacular weekend together, spending hours catching up and creating new inside jokes. So the rest of the week was a bit blue - though last Sunday was good, I got to hang out with the guy's friends from college and we feasted on Ethiopian food.

But this weekend word isn't about last weekend it's about tomorrow and Sunday - there isn't much to report. S is at home, headed to happy hours and then who knows? I'm off to one of the guy's coworker's band's performances and then maybe a BBQ tomorrow. Mostly I'll be gearing up for Monday, since I've been hired to oversee a new project for a company. I'm really nervous about the whole thing because it's going to make my life very hectic - but hopefully in a good way!

Tell us what you're up to readers! And remember, we have a new giveaway set up which means those lovely prints from riotjane are still up for grabs through Sunday!
