GIVEAWAY: Quirky Hair Diva Print from nosideup!

This Giveaway Has Ended.
Please visit our home page for information on our upcoming giveaways!

We're pleased to announce our newest giveaway. Nosideup is giving away one of her favorite prints, a funky piece called Lola "the hairy" Diva!
When you are talented, the world bows to your feet. Lola was just beautiful, glamorous, stylish and the best opera singer of her generation (and probably history, but she was so humble she never mentioned that). She could be spotted getting in and out of cars at night, in the city. From party to catwalk to concert.

Be sure to check out some of the other prints at Nosideup - there's something for everyone. S
and I are huge fans of all the hair prints, like this one, entitled "Stella."

I love that side bun and sort of wish I could pull it off myself. It's such an elegant print!

I love the patterns in "Rebecca" - the folds of the hair and the texture of the scarf make up a delightful print that will look lovely in any room from the bathroom to the living room.

The giveaway runs from 12 AM PST today (Saturday) until 11:59 PM PST, June 4th. The winner will be chosen by random.org and emailed on Friday morning. If the winner does not respond within 24 hours, a second winner will be chosen. Unfortunately, we currently only accept U.S mailing addresses at this time.

weekend words

Hi Readers,

It's the end of May, and it seems that the summer is just going to whirl by. S is traveling all over the place, I'm not sure how she juggles her whole life, maintaining the blog included. But she does and Lord knows we're friends because of how awesome and multitasking-proficient she is. Let's see if I remember the schedule correctly she was in Pheonix for a conference and is headed off to the East Coast this weekend, then is jet-setting to Los Angeles. Delightful trips all around!

I'm finally at a point where I'm delving into lots of work. I'm looking for full time employment which, I'm sure many of you know, is a job in itself. But I'm working on some freelance side projects which are coming along but are pretty time consuming.

Also, just in case my readers were wondering, I did survive my first camping trip. The weather was humid and warm but it was lovely and I'm pretty sure it won't be my last outdoors experience.

Are my weekend words getting dull? I'm wondering if readers have feedback about what they'd like to hear - do you want more fashion and recession friendly tips? How about a weekend link roundup? Send your questions in and we're happy to take time to answer your questions (publicly or privately!)

New giveaway coming up so check back for details!

Until June,

Plain Jane - 2 screenprinted cards on recycled paper

Friendship is certainly the finest balm for the pangs of disappointed love.

- Jane Austen, Northanger Abbey

$4.50 at papermanagerie's Etsy shop

terry crop pant

There's a time and a place to wear terry crop pants. Beaches, campfires, cookouts, weekends, slumber parties, break up recovery night? Yup. Cocktail party? Not so much.

$9.99 (was $39.50!) at Victoria's Secret

drop waist strapless top

You know what this top means. This top means you wanted to be comfortable but still look smokin'. This top means buy me a drink but don't think I'm putting you before the girlfriends I came with. We love this top.

$19.99 (was $39.50) at Express

BDG pull on cotton skirt

Sigh - cotton. Perfect material for warm breezy days and slightly chilly evenings. Pair this skirt with a tshirt and your favorite headband.

$19.99 (was $38) at Urban Outfitters

Sonoma life and style boa slip on shoes

I think these are so deliciously lovely - they're flats but still have a kick to them, and by kick I mean a great metallic touch and a great peep-toe. So nice to find shoes that won't have you standing on tip toes but will still make you feel as sexy.

$17.97 (was $44.99) at Kohl's

brass key with blue rose necklace

It seems the trend these days is to wear key themed jewelry, which to be honest I think can be gorgeous - but I will admit, when I browse through magazines and keep seeing Tiffany's diamond studded keys, I think - well....it's a recession, that's what I think. So I was thrilled to stumble across this gorgeous vintage key necklace, which is not only more unique than so many things you'll find at stores, but hopefully won't put a devastating dent in your paycheck.

Summertime. Wedges are in the air.

$16.97 (from $44.99) at Kohl's

Ok, this, to me, is like, the epitome of unspeakably (and apparently over-punctuatedly) adorable.

Bring this cute guy home. Sure he'll hang around the refrigerator all day, but he'll never forget where the keys are and he can get the top off that pale ale at the end of the day.

$12 at black and blum

wall clock

For some reason I'm picturing this in a scene with a suited man in profile looking over the city with a vintage Coca-Cola bottle nearby.

$16.95 at Crate and Barrel

prosperity necklace

It's the incredibly simple necklaces like this that you buy already almost having forgotten about them but they somehow worm their way over and over and over into your outfits, whether for the final simple touch or the balance to the chaos.

$12 at Francesca's Collections

pomme bowl

Just perfect.

$18 (originally $24) at threepotatofour

seesaw unlisted kenneth cole pump

I'm sure you all know the difficulty of finding great shoes under $20. I bemoan often that even the sales are limited to the smallest or largest sizes, but not that much because I imagine that people with small or large feet have trouble with shoe finding anyway so they should get the sale stuff. This gorgeous pump still has a few of those in-between sizes left, though! Get 'em before they're gone!

$19.99 (from $50) at Piperlime

5.26.2009

Ospedaletti

Slim, zipper wallet-clutch in two luscious colors - everything that doesn't fit in it, you probably don't need to take with you.

$19.99 at Target

cruet jug

Made from 100% recycled glass this jug will hold what you need to survive the summer.

$5.95 at Crate and Barrel

women's roll up twill shorts

I'm picky about shorts because I want to stay cool and show off my legs sometimes, but I'm also a little curvy so I want something that adequately covers me. These twill shorts are stylish but aren't "super short shorts" - now all I need is a good book recommendation and a hammock.

$12.50 (was $24.50) at Old Navy

super skinny snake belt

A skinny gold belt seems a bit out there, mostly because it's gold - but don't shy away from this accessory! It can pull together an extremely and already stylish but toned down outfit.

$14.99 (was $29.50) at Ann Taylor Loft

tie front poplin jacket

This is a great casual work jacket for the summer. The short cut and pushed up sleeves say "I'm ready for a four day week from hell!"

GIVEAWAY: luscious soap and body butter by wynndrew!

This Giveaway Has Ended.
Please visit our home page for information on our upcoming giveaways!

So one of us is off on a camping adventure and the other is doing a whirlwind three city party-conference-notsurewhatitisthing tour. You can bet that anything that says rest and relaxation sounds good right now. Add in smells good, handmade, and fabulously packaged and we're goners. We're excited to announce our latest giveaway - a luscious lime and cranberry soap and body butter combo from wynndrew's etsy shop. *goners*

I have to say that when I chanced upon the shop, the little profile photo of Wynn kissing Drew took me halfway to goner. You know that the products must be incredibly gorgeous and inviting and decadent in order to even get me to move on from there!

Their organic Kiss Me and Make It Good (love it!!) lip balms are $3 each (shipping included!!). Plus they'll put a custom label on it if you want. Although really, I think the original will be hard to improve on.

Or how about the Elated Bath Salt Scrub inspired by the satsuma mandarin fruit? It is a Dead Sea salt scrub, renowned for its mineral properties, and made of 100% natural materials. Do you have those Fridays where you're taking off your work clothes as you come in the door? Starting the bath, picking a paperback you don't care enough about to be annoyed when it gets wet, and hoping against hope for half an hour free? I had one of those this Thursday. I think I could have used the Elated Bath Scrub.

So what about you, dear reader? As the wynndrew tagline goes: Be good to yourself. Enter to win a lime and cranberry soap and body butter combo from this amazing etsy seller. The soap is made with natural cranberry and lime essential oils in a vitamin-rich goat's milk base. Am I the only who is immediately transported by this description to a summer afternoon? - freshly cut grass, maybe the scent of laundry on the line, and definitely a cocktail in the hand. The body butter is incredibly thick, decadent, and will leave you feeling fresh from dawn to dusk, and beyond.

The giveaway runs from 9 PM PST today (Friday) until 11:59 PM PST, Friday May 29th. The winner will be chosen by random.org and emailed on Friday morning. If the winner does not respond within 24 hours, a second winner will be chosen. Unfortunately, we only accept U.S mailing addresses at this time.

weekend words

Hi all,

It's cold and rainy outside today which is cramping my mood for the long weekend - but I'm headed to the great outdoors tomorrow morning where it will hopefully be sunny (no, I'm not really a camper but I'm trying to give it a chance - wish me luck!)

S is off to a dear friend's birthday bash and so is out of town for the weekend. I think summer means it's going to be a lot of jet setting for the girl - conferences and cruises both seem to be on the horizon!

It's a short w.w. this week - tell us your plans for the summer, send us you fashion questions or suggestions. Tell us which products you love or love to hate. We can't wait!

Until Monday,

$11.86 (previously $16.95) at NY&Co

faux-snake clutch wallet

I'm posting this for N, who in true N + S style, has absolutely fallen in love with some random basic she bought years ago and is nowhere to be found now. And of course, being ridiculous people, we're unsatisfied with new items that are similar to the old; we need the new item to meet some infinite list of beloved qualities. In this case, it's a hinge wallet below 1/4" in width and 6" in length with a texturey but not too texturey surface. Good luck with that, babe.

$17.60 (down from $32!!) at Kohl's

Fossil has some fantastic quality leather goods and you just can't beat 50% off something that will last you years. Check out the chocolate brown too; I hate to use this word to describe a wallet, but it's kind of luscious.

$20 (originally $40) at Dillard's

penguins wallet by sarah utter

My shameful confession of the week is that I really like Dane Cook movies. ALL OF THEM. I only know about three, and they're pretty much identical, and I know no one is really supposed to ACTUALLY LIKE them. But I did, and I do. And although I remember thinking Jessica Alba's love of penguins stretched a bit too far in Good Luck Chuck, I can't help but want this little penguin in my pocket.

giselle ruched seamless tube

Get ready for summer: and show off some skin. Now ladies, there are few occasions where strutting around in a tube top is totally fine - but that doesn't mean a bright comfortable piece can't be worn with a light cardigan, or paired with a summer scarf. Late night drinks? Grab the blazer you wore to work and off you go!
